The Dream Job
Submitted by Julie on Tue, 07/27/2010 - 12:28In our childhood, most of us seem to at one time or another dream of being an actor or singer. As we grow older, most of us realize how impractical these types of career goals can be, and we find new pursuits that are more realistic and more in-line with our adult personalities and goals. As a woman in the prime of my quarter-life “crisis,” I'm relishing the unique opportunity to reassess my past goals, present skills, and future plans. My 25th year may in fact be the very best time to look back at the dream jobs I've yearned to pursue in the past, and how they may yet apply to my future.

¿Tu Hablas Espanol?
Submitted by Betsey on Fri, 07/02/2010 - 12:30As surprising as it might seem, America has no official language. English is obviously the main language spoken within the country (seeing as how you are reading this article right now), but it is not official on any kind of federal level. Various proposals have been made throughout the years to make English the official language of the U.S. but none have become law. I would like to make a proposal of me own: to make America officially bilingual.
The Beginning of GLBT Pride
Submitted by Julie on Tue, 06/29/2010 - 12:30We’ve all heard of Proposition 8, Matthew Shepherd, and thanks to Hollywood, even Harvey Milk. But when I learned that this year, June 2010 was declared Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Pride month, I realized I had very little knowledge about the significance of the month of June for GLBT persons or their other significant historical moments aside from those that occurred after my birth.

Rethinking Newspapers
Submitted by JStrand on Wed, 06/16/2010 - 12:30It might be time to think about overhauling the American newspaper system. Not merely because U.S.-based newspapers are failing on pretty much every level, but because new studies are providing evidence that our advertisement-based system might not be the best supportive system either in the long term or for reporting purposes.
